Amnesty For Me

I was looking this whole world over, my sin to hide, you see.
My heart didn't yet know my Lord. You'd given me amnesty.
No one told me, my Lord, that You had set me free.
But since, dear Jesus, I've found you died for me.

That's why I came to meet Thee, down at the altar, one day;
Knowing, in my heart, my sins, You'd surely take away.
And since that day, when Thou washed me clean in Thy sight,
I know in my heart, I have amnesty. I have seen the light.

On an old rugged Cross, heavy to bear, my sins You wiped away;
Made them white as the snow upon the mountain top, today.
What can I do but tell the world all about Thee,
That You washed away my sins and gave me amnesty?

How could I not sing to Glory, all that befell me my Lord ...
How You saved me by grace, of Thine own sweet accord?
And also, all who will believe and trust in Thy sweet word,
I'd like to tell them of the sweetest story I've ever heard.

It was like I belonged in prison, so great was the shame;
Downtrodden and weary, 'til I heard of Thy name.
Tell them a name like none other can, to Glory set them free.
For it's our sweet Savior, the King of Kings, who grants amnesty.
