The Messiah

The scrolls had told,
In days of old,
That the Messiah
Would come down to earth.

They had expected a King.
But, they got some things
That their minds just
Would not receive.

He lived the life
Of an ordinary man,
Until God, His Father, said,
"Now is the time for our plan."

He healed the lame,
Opened the eyes of the blind.
He also took water and
Changed it into wine.

Then, He raised Lazarus
Up from the dead,
Fed the five thousand with only
Two fish and some bread.

He taught about peace
And He taught about love.
The people refused to believe
That He came from above.

The priests wanted Him gone.
They were full of jealousy and hate.
So, they schemed and they planned
About how to seal His fate.

He was betrayed in a garden,
By one of His own;
Knew the time was soon coming
When He would be going home.

They nailed Him to a cross,
The very next day.
That's when He took the keys back;
Death, hell, and the grave.

He had went to His own.
They had received Him not.
So, He sent His disciples to all nations,
Told them what was to be taught.

Then, He was taken into Heaven,
Where He sits at Gods right hand.
He had paid the price for all mankind
To be redeemed and be born again.

Some still won't receive Him,
Think He was just a very good man.
Praise God, I know the true story
And eternity with Him I get to spend.
